The most likely cause of loosing an Entity Edit button is copying and pasting from MS Word
When you enter the Edit option you will notice a recover option



Only ediable entities at this stage can be recovered (globals are excluded as they are not attached to any one template)
You will an edit button against the entities you can recover and edit.
You will need to remove any offending HTML code in order to recover the entity.
